The Southeast Alaska Food Bank is closely monitoring government shutdown news and assessing impacts to families throughout our region. If you’d like more information about Federal and State developments, we recommend our friends at the Food Bank of Alaska’s blog. We are planning for increased demand and working to strengthen our partners to respond to the situation.
We recognize that SNAP is a vital resource for feeding Alaskan families. For every meal that a food bank provides, SNAP provides nine. Approximately 2,500 people in Juneau (roughly 7% of the population) rely on SNAP. The Southeast Alaska Food Bank and our partners will continue to provide food services throughout and beyond this difficult time.
